Privacy Policy
Effective 5 November 2026. Emulsion Log is a film-photography log for Android published by Loadcircle Ltd (England and Wales). This policy describes the whole of our data practices, because there is almost nothing to describe: the app works entirely on your device.
What the app does
Emulsion Log keeps your film log — rolls, frames, exposure settings, notes and the scans you choose to match — on your device. Entries are written locally in the app's own database. The app performs no uploads of your log, ever.
What we collect
- Nothing on our servers. The app has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising networks.
- No personal data leaves your device through the app itself. The only network traffic is between the app and Google Play Billing when you buy Pro or when the app re-checks that purchase.
Data stored on your device
- The log: rolls (film stock, ISO, exposures, camera, lens, format, push or pull), frames (frame number, shutter, aperture, EV compensation, metering mode, note, timestamp) and the scans you match, in the app's private database.
- Scans are references, not copies: when you match a scan, the app records a reference to the image you chose through Android's system file picker, with the read permission the picker grants. The image itself stays where it is — your camera roll is never read in bulk, copied, or uploaded.
- No photo-library permission: the app does not request access to your media. The system picker hands it exactly the files you select, one at a time.
- No camera, no location, ever: the app does not request the device's camera or its location, and has no use for either.
Backup and export
Android's own cloud backup is switched off for this app, so your log is not copied to Google's servers on your behalf. The log leaves the device only when you export it — CSV or JSON — and choose where it goes. Export and restore are free and always will be.
Purchases
Emulsion Log Pro is a one-time purchase through Google Play Billing. Play handles the payment; we never see your payment details. The entitlement is stored on your device and re-checked with Play when you open the app. Pro opens the figures and the scan match only — no part of your log is ever behind the purchase.
Children
Emulsion Log is intended for adults and older children who keep their own film log, and it is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR / EU GDPR you may contact us about any personal data we hold. As described above, we hold none on our side. If you delete the app, the log goes with it — nothing survives on a server, because there is no server.
